US Capitol Officer Killed by Vehicle

The driver of a vehicle attacked the US Capitol by ramming into police officers stationed at a barrier. The incident occurred Friday, April 2, at the north entrance. The vehicle struck two officers, injuring one and killing William “Billy” Evans, an 18-year-veteran. Suspect Noah Green got out of the vehicle after striking the two officers and lunged at them with a knife. After that, other officers at the scene shot and killed Noah.

The US Capitol increased security in the last few months. This was a direct result of when a horde of Trump-supporting insurrectionists stormed the building on January 6th. The embarrassing event miraculously didn’t end in more than 5 deaths. 25-year-old Noah Green did not appear on any government watch list. However, officials found Facebook posts referencing his allegiance to Black Nationalist group, Nation of Islam.

Capitol Police Acting Chief Yogananda Pittman sadly announced the loss of one of our officers due to injuries. Please keep the US Capitol Police and their families in your prayers. It has been an incredibly tough time for us, especially after the events of January 6 and now today’s incident.

Green also shared details on Facebook regarding his unemployment and “tough” times the past few years. He was a part-time student taking online classes at Florida State University.

Larry Cosme, the leader of the Federal Law Enforcement Officers Association, stated that Officer Evans dedicated his life to protecting our nation’s democracy and should be honored as a national hero. Many other friends and colleagues sang Evans’s praises and remembered him as a “wonderful guy.”
