The MC Jadakiss once said that “Philly got the most rappers with heart” and he wasn’t lying. If you look to recent events such as Cassanova’s Hot 97 Interview the #SoBrooklynChallenge the creator himself said that Philly’s MC’s were the ones that went the hardest. With that being said, Philly is home to some of the best MC’s to ever Rock the Mic. So here are a few names you may or may not know, who come from the City of Brotherly Love
Meek has arguably been one of the most talked about artists within the past few years. Outside of his successful music career, the “Championships” rapper has had an ongoing fight with a corrupt justice system and has been taking the media by storm.
Tierra’s creative process is one that has captivated her fans since she first came on the scene. Outside of her rhymes schemes the visual for her “Whack World” Album is definitely something that made her stand out amongst her peers.
Formally known as Young Savage, Shawn Smith has become widely known for his versatility with his rhyme schemes and punchlines. Since releasing his project “Sink or Swim: A Shawn Smith Story” the South West Philly rapper has received praise from Hip-Hop veterans such as Joe Budden, Sway in The Morning, and Jay-Z.
Lil Uzi Vert
Uzi has had nothing but hits since his first “Luv Is Rage” Mixtape dropped back in 2015. He has made consecutive hits and can arguable be seen as one of the pioneers for the recent “Mumble Rap” that has emerged in the past few years.
If there is one person that is an embodiment of a Trap and Blues, it would be PNB Rock. The Germantown native picked up a huge buzz back in 2015 with the release of his mixtape “RNB 3”, and has been in the spotlight ever since.
