The category is Gilded Glamour. The Met Gala 2022 was all anyone could talk about. Many were excited to see celebrities invoke this pre-Bridgerton-inspired theme on the red carpet and mold it to their unique individuality.
Gilded Glamour’s theme was inspired by the drama series and era Gilded Age. The Gilded Age took place in the United States from about 1870 to 1900, and much like Bridgerton, the fashion was very particular. Regency Core Fashion is all the rage in 2022, so it’s no wonder the Met Gala took on fashion’s biggest game-changer. The challenge is staying true to this era of fashion’s unique style while adding a unique and up-to-date vibe. Many struggled and even failed this challenge as stars took to the Met Gala 2022. Though many celebrities’ outfits were astonishingly beautiful, they did not understand the assignment.
Below are the celebrities who glided in glamour last night.
Kiki Layne
This beautifully fitted but simple gown fits the theme perfectly; the actress accessorized this bubble gum pink dress with white gloves and a thick and luscious afro.
Laura Harrier
The model and former Spiderman actress looked exceptionally proper in a corseted silver, and black gown by H&M. Her slicked-back hair and pearl choker added a contemporary feel.
Teyana Taylor
The award-winning singer and actress did not come to play. While many celebrities honed in on the past, Ms. Taylor went to the future. She rocked a futuristic watercolor gown by Iris Van Herpen, matched with a headpiece fit for a gilded queen.
Lizzo
The award-winning singer looked radiant in a gold-adorned coat and black gown by Thom Browne. Her finger waves, long nails, and flute contributed to her whole aesthetic.
Olivia Rodrigo
Rodrigo, who wore a sparkling purple gown by Versace, looked simply stunning. The purple theme matched perfectly with the luxury of the gilded age, and her butterfly hairpieces gave the look personality.
Megan Thee Stallion
The Grammy Award winner fiercely owned the red carpet in an all-gold gown by Moschino. Her melanin gave the dress an extra pop, like she told the press, “Gold looks beautiful on me.” The Stallion is not wrong.
Vanessa Hudgens
The Tik Tik Boom! actress bares it all on the red carpet in a sheer black Moschino gown. The star added a bit of twist to the theme with a touch of boho-chic.
Bad Bunny
The reggaeton rapper risked it all in a Burberry fit. This unconventional yet darling look made a mark on this year’s red carpet. Let’s appreciate his attention to detail, and those hair ornaments are a winner.
Cara Delevingne
Gilded glamour of golden glamour. The English model shined her some golden body paint paired with a red Haute Couture Dior suit. The cane and the tails gave Delevingne a distinct swag.
Paloma Elessar
The American Model is adorned in a beautiful corset and vintage slip by Coach. Surprisingly, this model was one of the only stars to wear a corset on the red carpet.
Met Gala 2022
Met Gala 2022 was definitely not for the faint of heart. Adding a pair of long satin gloves or a fitted corset may not have been enough to pass the assignment with flying colors.
Only a few stars won for the night by arriving at the Met Gala in couture meets regency era, and boy did they make an impression.
The most popular celebrities may not have been chosen, but what’s the fun in that. What do you all think about the theme for Met Gala 2022?
