Should Miami Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa Feel Extended Pressure?

The latest Miami Dolphins offseason inquiries all scream for higher expectations in 2022. However, Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa feels completely the opposite. In great detail, he explains how this offseason has not added any extra pressure to the upcoming season, according to ESPN.

“I think the pressure is going to be there every time,” he said Wednesday. “I don’t feel any additional pressure from having all these guys on board. It’s an opportunity for me, for all of us as a team, to showcase our abilities this year.”

The Dolphins have made nothing short of a power move this entire offseason. They’ve inquired about Mike McDaniel, All-Pro WR Tyreek Hill, and star LT Terron Armstead. Not to mention, Chase Edmonds, Raheem Mostert, and Connor Williams.

    Expectations for Tua Tagaovailoa

Tua will be surrounded by tons of talent this season, clearly making him the scapegoat if things don’t go as planned. If things go well he will most likely be rewarded the hero. As he mentions, he truly believes the pressure for him never dwindles or leaves. In 2022, he’s excited to get after it and he truly believes this coaching staff supports him.

He began early attempting to build a relationship with HC McDaniel acquired from the San Francisco 49ers. He’s sitten down with him and is attempting to learn from his poor performances going forward. According to Tua, the two looked over the film and discussed his strengths and weaknesses to build upon for the upcoming season.

“I had a meeting with the head coach where we reviewed around 150 throw clips. We discussed areas for improvement, as well as the ones that were already good. The purpose of going through those clips was to align with his offensive strategies.

“Our main focus is maximizing YAC (yards after catch). We aim to outperform other teams in this aspect.”

Tua Tagovailoa and the Miami Dolphins New Found Energy

Tagovailoa seems to be rejuvenated for this upcoming season. There was no secret former Dolphins HC Brian Flores and Tua bumped heads often. Tons of rumors went around predicting Flores wanted Deshaun Watson, instead of, him. However, sources came out to clear the rumors up to the state that was not the case. Tua seemed to lose the locker room and respect within his former coaching staff, while now he’s accepting and really excited about the future.

“The locker room feels different. We’re all excited,” Tagovailoa said. “I’ve noticed many players attending Phase I of OTAs, including several veterans. It’s great to see such strong participation. I believe…”
