ShooterGang Kony Drops New Music Video
Sacramento rising star, ShooterGang Kony, connects with Teejay3k and Nef The Pharaoh in the official music video for “Bussdown.” Directed by ShooterGang Kony and Mikey Rare, the video is inspired by the notorious action-adventure video game, Grand Theft Auto, and follows the artists as they complete classic missions around their neighborhood.
“Bussdown” is one of many standout singles from ShooterGang Kony’s already critically-acclaimed album, Red Paint Reverend, which released last week via EMPIRE. The album earned high praise from Pitchfork who said, “the new album is one of Kony’s meanest and funniest, cementing him as a fresh voice in California rap,” and the project earned “Best New Music” nods from The FADER, Hypebeast, UPROXX, XXL and more.
The 14-track album includes the viral single “A Sinner’s Story,” which just surpassed a million views on YouTube, as well as features from Mozzy, OMB Peezy, Lil Bean, Seddy Hendrinx and Mazerati Rick. Listen to Red Paint Reverend here and watch the music video for “Bussdown” here.
ShooterGang Kony is currently on tour with Bay Area rap group, SOB X RBE, as direct support for their Strictly Only Brothers Tour. The 20-city North American tour kicked off in Santa Ana on February 28th, and will hit Houston, Atlanta, Brooklyn, Chicago and more, before wrapping up in Los Angeles on April 3rd. Tickets are on sale now at SOBXRBE.com.
Named “Best New Artist” by Pigeons & Planes, twenty-one-year-old ShooterGang Kony is at the forefront of an emerging musical class from Sacramento’s Oak Park neighborhood. From the same streets as Mozzy, “ShooterGang Kony is perhaps the most promising young rapper from the California capital, building off Mozzy’s confessional-style mobb sound with a buoyant delivery and his own tales of pain and redemption.” (The FADER)
