Seven Rap Songs That Express Psychological Love Languages

Marriage counselor Dr. Gary Chapman uses “love languages” to describe the different ways people express and make sense of love. These are quality time, words of affirmation, acts of service, receiving gifts, and physical touch. You can find your very own love language by using this online quiz. Here are seven rap songs that describe a variety of different types of love as well as the various ways this love can be shared.

    1. Anyone Can Be Toxic

While gift giving is not necessarily an expensive endeavor, Drake’s “Child’s Play” lyrics point out that someone winning someone else over with luxury items is not a good sign. “I’m not trustworthy, I admit/I give out Chanel like hugs, no kidding!” At the same time, like a bad relationship, this song has its heartfelt moments. “I just wanna let you know that someone love you back.”

    2. What He Wants and How Much

In “Just a Little Bit” 50 Cent is affirming his need to express physical love with lyrics like, “I want to unbutton your pants just lil’ bit/Take ’em off and pull ’em down just a lil’ bit.”  Why is that? Because, he “tryna’ f*** tonight/Clothes off, face down, ass up, c’mon!”

    3. Affirming “I Feel This Way”

Nelly has plenty of compliments to give. “I like how you style your hair/And I love your fashionable attire!” That’s really nice to hear.

    4. Self-Care and Divorce

“Man, I promise, I’m so self-conscious. That’s why you always see me with at least one of my watches!” Ye admits to supplementing self-love with materialism. “We’ll purchase many clothes even when we don’t truly require them.” After his split from Kim Kardashian, the rapper finds comfort in recalling his own wisdom: “We thrive despite their hatred, flaunt our success despite their attempts to belittle us.”

    5. Cherry Wine Good Times

This chill jam includes powerful words of affirmation in the lyrics, “Life is good, life is good, yeah/Life is good, no matter what/Life is good, life is good! Also, the call-and-response is super cute and romantic. ” You’re the woman I need, but where is she?/Where is he? The man who was just like me.”

    6. Filthy Denim Energy

This old-school song is all about appreciating physical beauty and phrasing attraction to it as a question. “Damn, girl, how you get all of that? In them jeans them jeans.”

    7. Booty Shaking Bop

“I see you on my radar/Don’t you act like you afraid of ****!” Ludacris’ “Money Maker” is all about the physicality of love. “Allow me to provide swimming guidance in a suggestive manner/Various techniques, showcasing skill and intelligence!”
