Youtuber and Instagram Star Omi in A Hellcat opened up about his recent run-in with the FBI!!
Omi in a Hellcat is known for his lavish cars and luxury lifestyle. However, all of that came to an end when feds seized his assets last month.
The Philadelphia native who’s real name is Bill Omar Carrasquillo sat down with CBS 3 to discuss what caused the FBI to come knocking. Omi along with his lawyer did an exclusive interview with CBS’s Trang Do.
In the interview, the Youtuber is heard saying. ” I was a multimillionaire a week ago and now I am down to nothing”. Even More, he goes on to discuss how the FBI seized all of his things including his kid’s tablets.
The FBI is investigating the entrepreneur for tax evasion, copyright infringement, and money laundering. However, Omi maintains his innocence saying he just took advantage of a loophole.
In 2016 Omi started streaming app called Gears Tv reloaded. It allowed users access to premium shows and movies for a monthly fee. The app made the 33-year-old millions of dollars but may be illegal.
Omi’s lawyer Donte Mills contends that his client did nothing wrong because there is no law against such services.
The FBI seems to think differently as they have frozen all of his client’s accounts and seized over thirty cars. Mills thinks his client is being targeted due to his background and unlikely rise.
Stating the FBI is “confused” as to how a kid from North Philly became a millionaire. Omi did admit to owing back taxes but attest that to a lack of financial literacy. He says he was in the process of working out a deal when the seizure happened
Omi with the Hellcat is a prime example of the power of the internet to provide an income for people. He is also a cautionary tale to people navigating the new age world of entrepreneurship through the internet. Most of the laws that are written are from a time when the internet didn’t exist. So it’s easy to think those rules don’t apply to the present day. However like with everything else, if the government wants you they will find a way to get you.
