Published

on

Cam Newton can do way more than make a stellar pass, he can also feed 1,200 kids.

Newton, who fed 800 kids and their families last year, is turning things up a notch. It’s been reported that the Carolina Panther’s quarterback is providing a Thanksgiving feast to 1,200 underprivileged kids and their families. It’s all apart of his “Cam’s Thanksgiving Jam”– an annual event in it’s seventh year. In addition to the games, music, and family-friendly fun, the feast will include, of course, lots and lots of turkeys.

He’ll even be giving away turkey dinners to-go, because people love taking plates home.

The Dallas Mavericks showed their support for the brave troops that help keep America safe. On Wednesday night, the Mavericks hosted their annual Seats for Soldiers event– an event that has taken place since 2004. The team flew in more than 100 injured soldiers for the Mav’s game against Utah Jazz.

“Our annual Seats for Soldiers night is a reminder that we don’t get to enjoy the game we love without the incredible sacrifices our soldiers make,” owner Mark Cuban said.

The courtside seats were donated by season-ticket holders, and are valued at more than $350,000. According to TMZ Sports, soldiers also received a four course meal, that came complete with a steak dinner and a seven-layer cake served for dessert. And as if that wasn’t good enough…there was more.

The Mav’s offered free tickets to the game to over 1,000 veterans.

Seattle Supersonics Could Make A Return To NBA

Philadelphia, PA — It’s been over a decade since NBA fans of Seattle had the opportunity to attend a Seattle Supersonics game. Those old Sonic teams that was coached by Lenny Wilkins, which culminated in an NBA Championship back in 1979, the Seattle Supersonic teams that was led by Gary Payton “The Glove” and his tenacious defense, along with thunderous , crafty, power dunks of “The Rain Man Shawn Kemp”; the 1996 NBA Western Conference Champions Coached by George Karl, who was one of 9 coaches to record 1,000 wins as a head coach, was sold in 2001 for $350 million dollars.

The Sonics along with the WNBA’s Seattle Storm was sold to the Professional Basketball Club L.L.C. However, there are sources out there that indicate the move for NHL’s expansion to have an NHL team in Seattle by 2020 could possibly influence the NBA Commissioner Adam Silver to bring the team back to the NBA, if the expansion proves the fan support is high. In an interview conducted by Portland TrailBlazers C.J. McCollum, with “The Players Tribune” Adam Silver hinted that a return of the Seattle Supersonics back to the NBA could be possible. ” I think it’s just a matter of time before we start thinking of expansion of a team in Seattle.  Seattle will definitely be on our list when we decide to expand.”Since the team has left many former Sonic fans have been heartbroken, and have salivated at the slight possibility that the team could return to the city of Seattle.

In 2015, according to a story written by SB Nation the Seattle Seahawks fans were given the nickname the “6th Man”. This was due to their tremendous home-field advantage.
Up until that point, the Seahawks had a home-record of 26-2 within three seasons, proving their fans truly support the team, and the team definitely feeds off of that. Former Seattle Supersonic, and current NBA Champion Kevin Durant gave his opinion on a team returning back to Seattle, in an article written by Andrew Joseph of USA Today,

“For sure. Most definitely. It’s a basketball city. It’s a sports town. … They have a good representation of basketball in the NBA from Seattle-born players, Washington state-born players. And I feel like that whole brand deserves an NBA team. Just like the Golden State Warriors deserve a team or the Los Angeles Lakers deserve a team, Seattle is that same way. [A team] has that same type of impact in the community. So [we have] a lot of time in life before this whole thing is over, and I’m sure we’ll see a team before it’s time.”, said Durant.

With the Seattle Supersonics rich history, respect around the league and from their fans, it does seem like bringing the team back would be a great decision not just fan-wise, but financially for the NBA.
