Megan Thee Stallion has accumulated plenty of success throughout the early years of her rap career. She’s won a few Grammy awards, landed several fashion deals and even had the pleasure of working with Beyonce. The 26-year-old has proved haters wrong time and time again. Not to mention, she’s making a point of it by climbing the ladder of success. Though, without the wisdom of two of the most important women in her life, she wouldn’t be Megan Thee Stallion. During her Glamour Women of The Year Award speech, the rapper honored her mother and great-grandmother for their impact on her life.
Megan Thee Stallion Honors Her Late Mother and Great-Grandmother
Every artist idolizes someone in their lives. For Megan Thee Stallion, her late mother and great-grandmother inspired her to pursue her dreams. On November 9th, during Glamour’s Women of The Year ceremony in New York City, Stallion took the stage to accept her award.
While giving her award speech, the rapper honored her mother and great-grandmother aka “big momma.” First, Stallion tearfully thanked her mother for “making me the woman that I am today.”
Afterward, she thanked her great-grandmother “big momma” for stressing the importance of education. Thanks to these women, Megan Thee Stallion has achieved every goal she set forth for herself and more.
The Good News Rapper Celebrates Herself
In closing remarks, Megan Thee Stallion celebrated herself and all her success. Rather than accepting her Woman of The Year Award as her rap persona, she accepted it as herself, Megan Pete. Furthermore, the 26-year-old noted that she has overcome all of her adversaries. More importantly, she’s paved the way for more female emcees to have a seat at “the table.”
It’s clear that her mother and great-grandmother’s influence has empowered her not only as a female emcee, but also, as a woman.
