LL Cool J, Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Inductee

LL Cool J Gets Inducted into Rock & Roll Hall of Fame

The 2021 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee list included a wide array of musical acts. LL Cool J is among the ranks.

According to the Rock Hall website, the 13 honorees are divided into four different categories, including Performer Category, Early Influence Award, Musical Excellence Award and Ahmet Ertegun Award.

Not only is Hip Hop mogul JAY-Z being inducted under the Performer Category, LL Cool J finally earned his rightful spot in the Musical Excellence category. After six nominations, the legend is getting his just due.

The Hip Hop Legend Turned Actor Reacts

The Rock The Bells legend celebrated the news with an Instagram post shortly after hearing the list of inductees.

“You can do anything you put your mind to,” he captioned a photo of the announcement. “Thank you.”

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Chairman Praises LL

As a member of a distinguished class of nominees, Chairman John Sykes acknowledges the mark LL Cool J made on the culture.

“This diverse class of talented inductees reflects the Hall’s ongoing commitment to honor artists whose music created the sound of youth culture,” John Sykes, chairman of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation said in a statement. “It will make for an unforgettable live celebration of music in October at this year’s Induction Ceremony in Cleveland.”

“Normally that’s enough for me,” he wrote at the time. “This year is different. I’m writing not in my official capacity, but as someone who’s been down with Hip Hop since the Eighties. I thought it was important to make the case in public for one of this year’s nominees, my colleague LL COOL J, with whom I worked for years.

Mr. James Smith became eligible for induction in 2010 and received nominations for inclusion six times. But he’s never been voted in. And I think that that failure speaks to the limitations of too many of the HOF’s voters.”

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony will take place on October 30 in Cleveland, Ohio. The event will be held at the Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse, which offers increased space and flexibility and prioritizes health and safety. The ceremony will air on HBO and stream on HBO Max at a later date.

LL Cool C’s Outlook for The Future

More importantly, legends never feel like they have completely reached their limit. When asked what else he wants to achieve, LL Cool J expressed his commitment to the culture.

“You know what? I think the priority now is to lift up the culture through Rock the Bells, really lift up hip-hop and all these artists that either came before or after me. That’s the priority. The secondary goal is to create a music project that people can really, really respond to. I just want to make a contribution to the culture artistically. That’s the secondary goal. The priority is Rock the Bells. The secondary goal is to make a contribution to the culture through this project. That’s it.”

With an album and another season of NCIS: Los Angeles LL Cool J is giving fans more to look forward to.
