The OTF Chieftain Shares the Latest Video From His Red-Hot New Album Just Cause Y’all Waited 2
Effortlessly blending brutal realism with outlandish boasts, Lil Durk sings directly to the streets. Finding the perfect balance between the street life and the rich life, Durk shares “Doin Too Much,” his latest video. Produced by RoseLilah & JW Lucas, “Doin Too Much” is a trap-influenced, bite-sized banger, as Durk works a triplet flow to speak on his reckless lifestyle: “I done did dirt in the streets, I regret it/You ain’t got money, can’t play with your credit.” In the video, Durk takes a joyride in his shiny Lambo, as Jerry Production adds eye-catching visual effects. “Doin Too Much” is the latest video from Just Cause Y’all Made It 2, Durk’s new album, currently sitting at #1 on Apple Music’s all-genre charts.
Packed with the well-drawn characters, single-line stories, and earworm-y melodies for which Durk is famous, Just Cause Y’all Waited 2 expertly balances the Only The Family CEO’s emotional rap ballads with snarling “no auto” missives, presenting a picture of a mature emcee in complete control of his vast talents. The new album features popular tracks like the emotional anthem “All Love” (over 7 million streams in just a month of release), recent single “Viral Moment,” all-star posse cut “3 Headed Goat” ft. Lil Baby & Polo G, which peaked at #2 on Apple Music’s all-genre songs chart, and the fiery “no auto” “Chiraq Demons” ft. G Herbo. With an additional feature from Gunna, Just Cause Y’all Waited 2 is available everywhere via Alamo Records.
JCYW2 is Durk’s first project since the release of last year’s Billboard Top 5-charting Love Songs 4 The Streets 2, but that doesn’t mean he hasn’t been busy. Lastweek, Lil Durk released his edition of Audiomack’s Trap Symphony, in which he performed three of his biggest hits while accompanied by a small orchestra. Featuring renditions of recent smash “No Auto Durk,” the R&B-flavored hit record “Home Body,” and his 2013 breakout drill smash “Dis Ain’t What U Want,” the new Trap Symphony highlights Durk’s charismatic performing ability and strong sense of songwriting.
In late April, Durk hosted a meal drive to feed the frontline workers at Chicago’s Rush Hospital, partnering with local restaurant PHLAVZ to drop off meals at the hospital and make over 100 more meals available for pickup later that night. Last Friday, Durk gave back to his adopted hometown of Atlanta, donating masks and meals to health workers and at-risk communities.
Stealing the show on recent collaborations with Roddy Ricch, Lil Skies, and Lil Uzi Vert on the Hot 100-charting “No Auto,” Durk has asserted his position on hip-hop’s A-List in 2020. He recently starred in a nationally-televised commercial for Nike’s Air Jordan, advertising the Lyrical
