One thing that I truly hate in today’s rap game is how prevalent leaking is. Leakers have done nothing but wreak havoc on the industry. Speaking of the devil, this past week, hackers caught a couple of rappers lacking and leaked their unreleased music to the public. These weren’t your average Joe’s either. Major artists like Young Nudy, 21 Savage, and Playboi Carti were involved/affected. What’s even more insane is that they were able to obtain a total of 172 songs, which feels like a world record.
Ain’t No Way
Every ATL rapper must have the same password because how is it possible the culprit obtains access to multiple accounts? People on the Internet were speculating that one of the artists’ go-to producers was behind it for financial gain. I highly doubt any of them would do that and risk being blackballed. The only theory that makes sense to me is that these rappers were recorded at the same studio, and someone stumbled across the studio’s main files.
One thing I can say is, trust whoever did this will be dealt with. Shit like this affects a bunch of people’s pockets. Think about it, 172 songs are a lot; that’s like three to five years taken from some of these artists. So that means all the studio hours, paid producers, and paid mixing are all down the drain. If I had to guess, that’s like 100K worth of damage altogether.
A Missed Opportunity
To me, the worst part about it all is that some small-time producer could’ve had his big break and could’ve desperately used that money. So best believe karma is coming hard for the person responsible. I love the way that rapper Young Nudy responded to the situation and his songs being leaked. He didn’t play the victim at all but straight-up told you that he was going to put his hands on the leaker. It might not be this week or next month, but they will ultimately find out who’s responsible for this, and it won’t be pretty.
In conclusion, people have to stop looking at things from a fan perspective and look at the big picture. As they say, it’s all fun till the rabbit has the gun.
