Every Friday, the music industry bombards the population with so much new music. In the music streaming era, it is hard to choose what new music to listen to. I want to make it easy for you. I will list five of my favorite music releases in the sea of all the releases that come out every Friday. Some of these artists will be well known and you will probably be already expecting their music, but there are some hidden gems that I think deserve some attention.
EVERYTHING- Kota The Friend
The Brooklyn born Kota The Friend released his fourth official project titled “EVERYTHING”. Kota is one of my favorite artist because he uses his monotone voice to create relaxing tunes that just make you want to smile. Real feel good music. The 12-track album includes 8 features with the most noticeable being, Bas and Joey Bada$$ on B.Q.E. Kota even includes interludes from Lupita Nyong’o and Lakeith Stanfield, two premiere Hollywood actors. Kota The Friend’s “EVERYTHING” provides fans with calming music to get through the pandemic that we are currently enduring.
Son Of A Gun – Key Glock
GLIZZOCKKK!!! Key Glock releases his new album titled “Son Of A Gun”. The Memphis rapper comes through flexing on hard hitting beats and hyper ad-libs. He has some of my favorite ad-libs in the industry. “Son Of A Gun” is a great follow up to his “Yellow Tape” album released earlier this year. The standout track on the album, in my opinion, is the intro “Son Of A Gun.” It pays tribute to the artist’s late grandma, who raised a strong individual, and acknowledges his mother as well. The lyrics go, “Rest in peace to my grandma, she raised a don, yeah, yeah (Yeah, she raised a don) And shout out to my mama, I’m a son of a gun (I’m a son of a gun) Glizock!”
