41 people have been injured after an explosion rocked a bar in Sapporo, North Japan.
It allegedly came from Umisakura, a Japanese-style pub around 8:30 p.m. Sunday. No deaths have been reported yet, but one is in serious condition. Authorities still don’t know the official cause. A witness told the Japan Times:
“I heard a ‘bang,’ which sounded like thunder, and my condo was shaken,” said a man in his 50s who lived nearby.”
Another witness reports smelling gas after the explosion.
Pictures and videos on Twitter captured bystanders witnessing the destruction. Windows were reported to have been broken and cars outside were covered in debris. Police have sealed off the area in case there are more explosions.
