Eddie Murphy will soon be soiling his royal oats again.
The comedian and actor has revealed that he has plans to make a sequel to his classic film, Coming to America. Murphy confirms the news after there was concern that he wouldn’t be making an appearance this second time around.
According to Hypebeast, Coming to America 2 will have a release date set for August 7, in 2020.
After revealing with audiences, something he deems very exciting, he explains why the film will be a joy to be a part of.
“After many years of anticipation, I’m thrilled that Coming to America 2 is officially moving forward”
He follows with:
“We’ve assembled a great team that will be led by Craig Brewer, who just did an amazing job on Dolemite, and I’m looking forward to bringing all these classic and beloved characters back to the big screen.”
Craig Brewer will direct the new film, while Kenya Barris handles the re-write. Unlike the first film, Akeem, the character Murphy plays, will be on a new journey. Coming to America 2 will follow Akeem as he searches for his son– he never knew he had.
