The Grammys 2023 is underway, and Cardi B is making a splash with her avant-garde looks. The “WAP” singer is rocking a mesmerizing royal blue cut-out gown by Gaurav Gupta, with fans comparing her ensemble to fine art.
The outfit is unique; it partially conceals Cardi B’s face and hair to create an asymmetrical curve-hugging look. It was crafted by Indian fashion designer Gaurav Gupta, who also designed the gown for her music video “No Love.”
While she wasn’t nominated this year, Cardi is one of seven solo female artists ever to receive a nomination for Best Rap Performance in the 59th annual awards show. Her single, “Up,” is up for the prize alongside favorites like Kendrick Lamar, Pusha T, Jack Harlow, and Lil Baby.
She’s been nominated in the past for Best Rap Album, as well. Her debut album Invasion of Privacy, was nominated in the category last year for its track “Bodak Yellow.”
But now, Cardi is taking her fashion game to new heights on the red carpet with a jaw-dropping custom-made gown. Designed by Gaurav Gupta, the blue gown features sweeping, gravity-defying curves that wrap around her shoulders and side of her head.
She paired the custom-made gown with natural makeup and sparkly earrings to make a statement on the red carpet. Her makeup artist Erika La’Pearl used Pat McGrath Labs to achieve the perfect skin tone for the occasion. She then accentuated her eyes with the brand’s Skin Fetish foundation, concealer, and setting powder. She finished her look with a beautiful edgy eyeliner and a pop of color in her lipstick.
