Billie Eilish wears baggy clothes so she won’t be body-shamed

Billie Eilish may only be a teenager, but she’s already a style icon.

The “Bad Guy” singer is famous for her blue hair, oversized designer clothes and quirky, Hot Topic-meets-Louis Vuitton aesthetic. However, there is a deeper reason why Eilish prefers to keep her outfits loose.

Billie Eilish was recently featured in a Calvin Klein campaign, #MyCalvins. Billie Eilish is always authentically herself, whether that’s through the way she expresses originality through her style and beauty, or the way she expresses herself through her music.

In her video, Eilish opens up about how she hides her body so others can’t pick it apart. The 30-second clips, as directed by Jonas Lindstroem, opens to Billie in the bathroom, taking off her jewelry and looking closely into the mirror.

“I never want the world to know everything about me,” Eilish continues,”I mean, that’s why I wear big, baggy clothes. Nobody can have an opinion because they haven’t seen what’s underneath. Nobody can be like, ‘Oh, she’s slim-thick, she’s not slim-thick, she’s got a flat ass, she’s got a fat ass. No one can say any of that because they don’t know.”

Nylon also states, Eilish also talked to NME earlier this year about her clothing choices, noting that, if she were a guy wearing “these baggy clothes, nobody would bat an eye.” She continues: “There’s people out there saying, ‘Dress like a girl for once! Wear tight clothes you’d be much prettier and your career would be so much better!’ Not it wouldn’t. It literally would not.”

Calvin Klein wants to help consumers challenge and subvert the status quo. The brand believes that self-expression can lead to authentic connections, which can ultimately lead to change, Bustle expresses.
