The Documentary Killer Inside: The Mind Of Aaron Hernandez Premiered Yesterday on Netflix, here are 5 Shocking Details.
Aaron Hernandez dominated football for years and was one of the NFL’s rising superstars. However, this all came to a screeching halt when the Patriots Tight End was convicted of murder. While serving his time in Prison, Hernandez would go on to commit suicide. By doing so, he left behind a long list of unanswered questions.
Netflix has put together a three-part docu-series in an attempt to answer the question surrounding Aaron Hernandez’s rise and fall from grace. The documentary includes interviews with people close to Aaron, details about his trial, and never released audio from his time in Jail.
Below are the five most shocking details that are revealed in the docu-series.
1. Aaron Hernandez had a ” Good” Upbringing.
While not the most shocking of details offhand, it was rather revealing to learn Hernandez grew up in a pretty structured environment. Born and raised in Connecticut, the former Patriot was raised in a two-parent home in a “Middle Class” neighborhood. The Hernandez home was far from perfect, though, as Aaron’s father Dennis was known to be abusive at times. However, the family was structured and provided an atmosphere that produced at least two division 1 athletes.
2. The death of his father was a turning point.
Like many boys in America, Aaron wanted to be just like his father Dennis, who himself was a local football hero. Aaron played for the same high school where his father starred and was even committed to his dad’s alma matter, Uconn. Everything changed, though, when Dennis died in 2006 after a usually routine Hernia surgery. A close friend of the younger Hernandez said he realized a change at his Dennis’s funeral, stating. “When I saw [Aaron] at the wake, it was like looking into a new person’s eyes,”
3. The trouble started in college.
A year after his father’s death, Aaron Hernandez had de-committed from Uconn and enrolled early at the University of Florida. At Just 17 years old, Hernandez was introduced to a new world, in which everything was accessible. From the beginning, there were signs that Aaron was letting the fame get to his head. In one incident, the teen allegedly punched a club owner in the face after being requested to pay for his drinks. Even More, there is the incident in which a man who “looked” like Hernandez fired into a car. However, these incidents were swept under the rug because of Aaron’s star status.
4. Aaron Hernadez had questionable friend chooses.
Probably one of the more unknown facts to come out of the series is that Hernandez’s friends played a significant role in his downfall. Particularly his friendship with Alexander Bradley proved to be a substantial factor in the football players’ demise. The two men became friends through a mutual interest in Weed and video games. However, the friendship would end on a sour note after the men faced a double murder charge together, and each turned on the other. Additionally, a short time after this, Bradley ended up being shot in the eye and blamed Hernandez for it and wanted revenge. Because of this, Aaron becoming extraordinarily paranoid and anxious, which could have contributed to his Killing of Oldin Lloyd.
5. Oldin Lloyd’s family forgave Aaron Hernandez.
The biggest takeaway is that although Hernandez was proven guilty of Murdering Oldin Lloyd, Lloyd’s family forgave Aaron anyway. The information provided in the series is no excuse for Hernandez to do what he did. However, if there is anything positive to come from this documentary is that Ursala Ward, Lloyd’s mother, is a strong woman. Ward expressed a level of compassion rarely seen by the mother of a murder victim that should inspire us all. Consuming herself with hate will do nothing to bringing her son back, yet choosing to love her son’s murderer is a deed that truly inspirational
