Since the early days of Hip-Hop, dissing another artist has always caused other people to tune in to what you are doing with your music. 50 Cent’s “How to Rob” laid the blueprint for this when he dissed everyone in New York City and quickly built a name for himself afterward. Since then, dissing people has been a tactic used to bring attention to one’s self. Especially when you are an artist who is about to drop an album. In recent years, a rapper turned snitch 6ix9ine used this to get people’s attention and build a solid fanbase. Whether you liked him or not, everyone knew who he was. Now it seems. Producer turned rapper Young Chop is taking a similar approach. Only this time, no one is enjoying his shenanigans.
Earlier this week, Young Chop got on Instagram live with Gillie Da King and started name dropping artists that “weren’t about that life”. He named artists such as Meek Mill, 21 savage, Quavo, and Lil Wayne. Meek took to Twitter and said, “It’s obvious Chop having some mental issues… y’all be gassing stuff so much y’all just gone ignore it! I been getting beats from him for years hope he get well”. 21 savage replied on IG saying, “Make sure y’all go get his tape wen it drop cuz he need da clout and pray for him cuz he done lost his mind,.” Young Chop, Later on, he posted IG pictures of T.I., Jay-Z, Diddy, and Spike Lee and insulted all four of these Icons. Needless to say, it seems that Chop is taking this a bit far just for album promotion.
