Yadda Man Breaks Down Mick Jenkins Features On ‘Jacket Weather’ Album

Yadda Man has delivered his new 10-track LP Jacket Weather in the midst of the holiday season.

And rightfully so, as the project is a gift to Hip Hop heads all over who can appreciate mindful lyricism combined with soulful production and a diverse supporting cast. The Omaha MC managed to check all three boxes on the refreshingly vulnerable album, resulting in multiple standout collaborations.

Though there are numerous exceptional features on Jacket Weather, Yadda Man’s connections with Chicago MC Mick Jenkins’ for their retrospective-themed collaboration “Do You Remember,”  in addition to his “Outta Sight,” collab with Dizzy Wright stands out the most.

While remarking on both records, Yadda Man broke down how “Do You Remember,” came to life, revealing how he and his close collaborator Y-Beezy initially put the collab together on a whim.

“Man me and Beezy had this song for a minute when we were just planning the project to be an EP,” Yadda Man said in part. “Around that time we were grinding and faithfully playing Mick Jenkins’ ‘The Circus,’ project & Beezy was like, ‘man it would be hard if we could get Mick Jenkins on that record you did?'”

A one-off idea soon came into fruition as Yadda Man’s team, the Off Brand Music Group collective, quickly mobilized and reached out to Mick Jenkens. The rest is, as they say, Midwest history.

“The team reached out to him and he hit us back and said he’d do it,” Yadda said. “I’m a huge fan of Mick Jenkins I couldn’t believe he jumped on the track. When the vocals came in, me and Beezy was in studio working on some new shit and the email popped up.”

While it was obvious that they had truly secured the bag, Yadda Man says things didn’t truly set in until they pressed play on the potent guest verse the Chicago lyricist laced the track with. “We looked at each other and was like, ‘wtf,’ because he said it would be seven days to send it back. He sent it in three days. Mannnn we dropped everything and played his verse and was hype. He bodied that shit!”

Yadda Man’s Jacket Weather serves as his third joint-effort release between his Off Brand Music Group imprint and former Maybach Music Group artist Stalley’s fledging label Blue Collar Gang. The album follows the deluxe edition release of his fan-favorite project JiMMY, along with several standout visuals including the music video for his album deep-cut “Real Friends.”
