Seven months after the horrific killing of rapper XXXTentacion, his then-girlfriend, Jenesis Sanchez, gave birth to a baby boy by the name of Gekyume Onfroy. XXX’s mom Cleopatra Bernard made the announcement late last year.
His son’s arrival into the world happened Saturday evening. According to The Guardian, the family stated the name meant “a different state” or “next universe of thought”. Furthermore, he was born three days after what would have been the rapper’s 21st birthday.
XXXTentacion, real name Jahseh Dwayne Ricardo Onfroy, was a young hip hop artist who quickly rose through the ranks with his bold and controversial music. Starting his career through the Soundcloud game, he exploded on the scene with his 2017 hit “Look At Me,” which hit No. 34 on the Billboard Hot 100.
However, legal issues followed the artist everywhere, ranging from gun possession to the abuse of a pregnant woman.
XXXTentacion was shot in June at Deerfield Beach, Florida just outside RIVA Motorsports. An investigation led to charges raised against four men: Dedrick Williams, Michael Boatwright, Trayvon Newsome, and Robert Allen. They are currently awaiting trial.
