What To Expect From Drake, 21 Savage Joint Album

Nobody lies more than a rapper. I don’t know why, but they just can’t seem to help it. For a while now, I’ve been hearing rumblings about Drake & 21 Savage joint albums. But I never put any thought into it. Especially when Drake and 21 Savage shut down any possibility of it happening anytime that they were asked. But now that we know it’s confirmed, how high should our expectations be?

    The Signs Were There

In hindsight, Drake unintentionally confirmed this collab when he released his 2022 album Honestly Nevermind. If you remember correctly, almost every track fell under house/dance music, except the outro, “Jimmy Cooks”. Not only was the outro the lead single, but it contained a feature from 21 Savage. I felt they did this on purpose to begin laying the groundwork.

He definitely confirmed my theory last week. First, Drake broke the internet by making a surprise appearance at Morehouse’s Homecoming concert that was headlined by 21 Savage. Then that same weekend, I ran into Drake at 21 Savage’s Freaknik-themed birthday party. At that very moment, I knew Drake was trying to plant seeds about his upcoming release.

    What I Expect

Now that we are a couple of days away from the release, we can start discussing what to expect. Prepare yourself for some of the most spooky, Halloween-influenced beats possible. I might even go out on a limb and say expect some production from Grammy-nominated producer, Metro Boomin. He has production placements on every one of 21’s projects and I don’t see that stopping anytime soon.

In regards to the actual rapping, I don’t think we have anything to worry about. In fact, I think 21 Savage is a safe bet, and I’m more worried about Drake delivering. This is why I feel like this was Drake’s idea, because every time they do a song together, good things happen. Look at last year, when CLB hit the streets, the consensus was that the best song was “Knife Talk”. And who did it feature? You guessed it, 21 Savage.

Essentially, what I’m saying is, Drake needs 21 Savage. He took it a step further by doing a full-length album with him. And honestly, I am stoked to listen and to see what they come up with.
