WATCH: Spike Lee Unveils Music Video For Prince’s Unreleased Track “Mary Don’t You Weep”

Following the massive criticism surrounding his recent film BlacKkKlansmanSpike Lee is back in the news. This time it’s for the release of an unreleased Prince track titled “Mary Don’t You Weep.”

The video was directed by Spike Lee himself and features clips from BlacKkKlansman. Featured on the end credits of the film, the song was recently announced to be a part of a “found” album of Prince’s titled, Piano & A Microphone 1983. 

“Prince wanted me to have that song,” Lee continued, “I don’t care what nobody says. My brother Prince wanted me to have that song. For this film. There’s no other explanation to me. This cassette is in the back of the vaults. In Paisley Park. And all of a sudden, out of nowhere, it’s discovered? Nah-ah. That ain’t an accident [laughs].”
