Vic Mensa Was Arrested Earlier This Month
Rapper Vic Mensa who is known for songs such as “U Mad” ft. Kanye West and “There’s A lot Going On” was arrested earlier this month. This is not the first time that the rapper has gotten in trouble with the law for illegal possession of a weapon. In 2017, Mensa was pulled over and arrested for carrying a gun without proper permits in Beverly Hills.
According to law enforcement sources, this time, Mensa was pulled over for making a dangerous turn while riding his motorcycle. While patting down the rapper, the officer on site found a pair of brass knuckles on Mensa’s person.
Details of The Arrest & Aftermath
Due to this, Mensa was charged with felony possession of brass knuckles.
The rapper was later released on $20,000 bail. Although possession of brass knuckles is not federally illegal, several states have laws in place against this.
California is one of those places and has some of the harshest penalties in the country. You can receive up to one year of jail time for illegal possession of brass knuckles in California.
Even in many states where it is legal to carry brass knuckles, they are treated as concealed weapons. This requires getting a permit. Basically, when it comes down to it, one would be smart to do their research before getting a pair of brass knuckles.
Although multiple states allow for one to own brass knuckles, unfortunately for Vic Mensa, California is not one of those places. Hopefully, the rapper can stay out of jail. It seems a bit extreme to send someone to prison simply for having an item that could be used for self-protection
What do you guys think, though?
Should Vic Mensa have learned his lesson from the last time he was arrested for illegal possession of a weapon? Or is this just another case of an unnecessary law getting in the way of people living their lives?
