U.S. Figure Skater Accused of Trying to Sabotage Korean Competitor

It gets ugly on the ice.

Korean figure skater, Lim Eun-soo, is accusing a U.S. figure skater of purposefully slicing her leg during warm-ups. Lim states that Mariah Bell, the U.S. skater in question, came up from behind and intentionally cut her with the bottom of her skate’s blade–Lim thinks it was all a part of a plan to eliminate rival competition. Lim’s team seems to believe so as well.

“It seems it was intentional, considering how Bell came from behind.”

And apparently, it isn’t the first time that they’ve experienced problems between Lim and Bell. Lim’s team reports that Bell has been frequently bullying Lim prior to Wednesday’s competition.

According to E! News, the incident happened in Japan, while at the International Skating Union’s World Figure Skating Championships. However, there’s been no concrete evidence to support the claims. The ICU has made an attempt to investigate, but so far haven’t been able to prove Lim right.

The ICU released a statement, after their findings.

Based on the evidence at hand at this point in time, which includes a video, there is no evidence that Ms. Bell intended any harm to Ms. Lim.”

Despite no evidence being found at this time, ICU promises to continue working with representatives for team USA and team Korea. As for both figure skaters, after suffering a cut on her calf, Lim placed fifth in the competition…just one spot above Bell.
