Jorja Smith is an extremely talented, 18-year-old Walsall native who is a breath of fresh air on the London music scene.
Smith is definitely a creative person who is inspired by artists such as Mos Def, Lauryn Hill, Curtis Mayfield, Damien Marley, and The Streets. She is a classically trained vocalist, and it wasn’t until analyzing Dizzee Rascals’ “Sirens”, that Smith was inspired to create “Blue Lights.”
The premise of the song is on the notion of not feeling guilty for other people’s issue; not to take on an emotion that you don’t need to feel. Smith is a normal girl following her dreams by writing songs (in-between shifts at Starbucks) and working with many different artists.
