Why do so many bad things happen in LA to rappers? It’s the same place where Pop Smoke, Drakeo the Ruler, and now most recently the unforgettable PNB Rock took their last breath. Sadly, the Philadelphia rapper was gunned down on Monday afternoon in LA. During the failed robbery attempt, he sustained gunshot wounds that ended his life.
His family, friends, and fans will remember and miss him all over the world. Besides his children, the person hurt the most in this situation is arguably his girlfriend. The majority of social media, which includes high-profile celebrities like Nicki Minaj and Kodak Black, have blamed her for PNB’s unforgettable death. With Kodak going as far as to say “she might as well kill herself”. To add context to the situation, 20 minutes before he was killed, she posted a post on her Instagram story of her food at the restaurant she was eating at. The post included the exact location of where she was eating. Many say if it wasn’t for her, he’d still be alive.
No One to Blame
I don’t think it’s at all fair to blame her in this situation. I feel like this could’ve happened to anybody! It’s not like she included PNB Rock in her picture. We also don’t know if he was possibly set up. Who’s to say somebody wasn’t following him? What if, someone spotted him at the restaurant and made a call to his enemies? We don’t know, and it’s unfair for her to receive this type of criticism! Why not direct this energy towards the actual killers?
PNB’s Legacy
The unforgettable PNB Rock had one helluva career! One that most rappers only ever dream of having. He had a solo song make it on the US Billboard Hot 100. Insanely impressive!
I’ve been following his journey since the mid-2010s. Something always told me that he had star potential, but I would’ve never guessed he’d be this big. I remember the moment I heard he was a part of The Fate of the Furious Soundtrack for the song “Horses” and I was genuinely happy for him. It’s not about how you start, it’s about how you finish. It was like he was a friend of mine. I was proud of how far he came because I saw where he started.
