What crimes is Roger Stone being charged for?
Roger Stone has been an ally to President Trump, he is a well known American conservative political consultant and lobbyist.
On January 25, 2019, Stone was arrested for several crimes including witness tampering, obstructing an official proceeding, and five counts of making false statements.
What is President Trump saying about Roger Stone?
On Friday, during an interview, Trump said he will be looking at a possible pardon for Roger stone.
He continues to say:
That Stone had been “very unfairly treated, as were many people”.
Trump uses this situation to bring negative attention to his opponent for the president to say: that other people he’s accused of committing crimes, including presumptive Democratic nominee Joe Biden, are still “walking around.”
Before walking away from the press he said: “Who would have believed that one?”
Stone lawyer trying to request an extension on the prison sentence
His lawyer is trying to extend his time for not going to prison due to the COVID outbreak, saying that it would be a health risk for Stone.
District Court Judge Amy Berman Jackson has denied his request because there are no COVID cases in the Jesup facility at the time.
However, Stone’s lawyer has something different to say:
“There are now at least 20 cases of the virus confirmed, and that only 43 tests among the hundreds of inmates there have been completed,”
They are set to submit a formal reply by noon this Friday.
