The Trump Administration has officially withdrawn the United States from the World Health Organization/WHO.
Congress and the United Nations got a notice from the Trump Administration that the United States is withdrawing from WHO. This move comes while the country still battles the coronavirus epidemic. However, the withdrawal won’t be official until July 2021.
Congress received notification that POTUS officially withdrew the U.S. from the @WHO in the midst of a pandemic.
To call Trump’s response to COVID chaotic & incoherent doesn’t do it justice. This won’t protect American lives or interests—it leaves Americans sick & America alone.

That was the tweet Bob Menendez sent out this morning that let the rest of the world know the US was withdrawing from WHO. As the news began to spread the reactions from politicians came in.
The President’s official withdrawal of the U.S. from the World Health Organization is an act of true senselessness as @WHO coordinates the global fight against COVID-19. With millions of lives at risk, the President is crippling the international effort to defeat the virus.

WHO doesn’t have a perfect track record and has been under scrutiny for its handling of COVID-19. Furthermore, the president even suggested that the organization was complicit in helping China hide the virus. However, with coronavirus cases on the rise in multiple states, the administration seems to be acting irresponsibly.
The Trump administration better has a plan to deal with COVID-19 and any other impending diseases. Millions of lives are at risk, and most of the people in this country don’t have the luxury to afford to get sick.
