Trevor Noah Gives His Honest Opinion of Jussie Smollett

The Daily Beast

Jussie Smollett is losing his supporters one-by-one, as more details unfold about his January attack.

If you recall, Smollett claims that he was attacked by two random white guys, as he was leaving a neighborhood Subways restaurant. The incident, which happened in Chicago, left Smollett bruised and outraged.

However, new details are surfacing that suggest Smollett may have pulled the story out of thin air— basically, meaning Smollett could be lying about that night’s events entirely.

Police are now giving him one last chance to make things right, or at least halfway right. According to one publication, Jussie has the option to tell one last version of that Tuesday morning– before having to appear in front of a grand jury.

Trevor Noah, television host for The Daily Show, thinks that Smollett’s story has some questionable parts.

“Yeah, I don’t know what the details of the Jussie Smollett story are going to end up being. What I do know is that right now the story doesn’t make sense in the pieces that it’s laid out as. I’m not saying that he is lying. I’m just saying that his story doesn’t seem to line up with what’s happening. ‘Cause these guys admitted to punching him, so that part of the story is now effectively dead.”

Either way, the Empire star better come up with a believable story fast. If he doesn’t, he could face up to three years for falsifying a police report.
