Top 10 Redman Songs In Celebration of His Birthday

    Redman Celebrates his 50th Birthday

The legendary rapper, Redman, turned 50 years old today (4/17/20). He has been dropping hits since the early 90s, and his most recent album, Muddy Waters 2, was released in 2017. His early work from the 1990s to the 2000s still sounds great all these years later. In celebration of who I believe is one of the best in the game, I have compiled a list of the top 10 Redman songs.

    Top 10 Redman Songs

    10. Da Journee

This song is off the album Dare Iz A Darkside. This album goes to show Redman’s range of skills. He is known for being able to bring an aggressive energy to the mic. This song along with much of Dare Iz A Darkside showcase Redman’s slower flow and smooth style.

    9. Bump

“Bump” is a track featured on Redman’s Muddy Waters. Many fans consider this to be his best album. This is a chilled-out song where Redman drops some lyrical rhymes.

    8. Diz Iz 4 All My Smokers Ft. Method Man

This wouldn’t be a proper list of the top 10 Redman songs if there wasn’t a track featuring Method Man on it. Throughout the years these two artists have collaborated on a number of songs, and even had two albums together Blackout! and Blackout! 2. This song is off of Blackout! and goes to showcase both of these rappers’ love for weed, giving a big shout out to all the smokers out there.

    7. Rock Da Spot

“Rock Da Spot” features a classic funky beat that Redman is able to kill. It’s a bit of a fast-paced song that showcases his ability to deliver some loud and quick whited bars.

    6. Smoke Buddah

If you’re a fan of Redman than you know he loves weed. “Smoke Buddah” is a classic track about loving mary jane. I feel like I’m overusing the word funky when it comes to describing Redman’s beats and flow, but it’s just too accurate. “Smoke Buddah” features a slowed down and funky beat that you can definitely bump your head to.

    5. How High Ft. Method Man

Redman and Method Man go together like peanut butter and jelly. That’s a pretty corny way to describe them, but basically what I mean is that these two kill it when they come together on a track. “How High” is a song with a classic 90s hip-hop beat. Check out the funny music video for this song below.

    4. Tonight’s Da Night

This song is a classic. It really goes to show Redman’s gritty style that works so well. He delivers a smooth flow accompanied by slick lyrics in typical Redman fashion.

    3. Can’t Wait

The vibe on this song is great. It’s laid back buck still gets you hype just based off the energy that Redman brings.

    2. Time 4 Sum Aksion

This is a track where Redman absolutely brings a big energy. This song bumps and gets you going. It features an aggressive flow over some boom bap rap type beats with a funky twist. If you’re in the mood to get revved up then give the music video a view.

    1. So Ruff Ft. Dj Scratch

Redman absolutely goes off on this song. I feel like this song really goes to show how killer of a flow he really had. This song is off the album Whut? Thee Album, which features Redman popping off on a number of raw beats.

    Final Thoughts

Redman delivers a funky style over an array of smooth to more aggressive beats. His flow goes to match the vibe and feel of the beats he raps on, making for some great songs. If you are a fan of old-school rap that hits with some power then I definitely suggest giving these top 10 Redman songs a listen, as well as any of his songs.

Either way though happy birthday to a legend in the rap game, let’s hope people can appreciate a true talent!

What are your guy’s thoughts though?

Are you a fan of Redman’s wild style? If so what are some of your favorite songs by him? and who are some other old-school rappers that you listen to?
