Three Reasons Teens Should Practice “Safer” Sex

It’s no secret – teens are busy getting it in nowadays. With sex being widely promoted throughout social media, television and the internet, it’s no wonder why it’s a popular thing to do. Parents all over the country have fears of their children catching STD’s, diseases and in many cases – early parenthood. With them being bullheaded “young” adults, lets all face the facts – they’re gonna do what they want to do. Even if they’re raised with the best parenting, teens are bound to experiment by dibbling and dabbling in things their parents wouldn’t condone. Sex is one of the most common explorations in this age group, so it’s a no brainer why “Safer” sex should be practiced.

    According to Planned Parenthood:

“Safer sex is anything you do to lower the chance of giving or getting STDs. “

And with that being said, here’s our top 3 reasons why teens should always remember to practice sex “safely”, especially in today’s society.

“Safer sex” lowers the risk of getting nasty STDs or spreading them.

Nobody wants to walk around with their underwear on fire! Being uncomfortable because of an STD can really mess your day up. And who wants that? Though no type of sex is considered 100% “safe”, but remembering to use a condom is the most responsible move to protect you and your partner before intercourse.
    Reasons Teens Should Practice Safer-1

Pregnancy can happen. (Even if birth control is in play)

Birth control “prevents” pregnancy – it doesn’t completely avoid it. Some teens have the impression that sex without a condom is ideal in this case. Wrong again. Not only does both partners stand at risk for STD’s or disease, but pregnancy is highly likely if a “slip up” happens. And that’s consciously or unconsciously. Pregnancy is a game-changer. Bringing a child into the world is a huge responsibility. Who’s ready to be a mom or dad at 15? Not many hands will raise. Though not a foolproof plan to prevent unplanned pregnancies, it reduces the chances by a huge margin.
    Reasons Teens Should Practice Safer-2

It’s very possble to get STDs or diseases from someone who’s never had any kind of sex.

Yeah, really. How you ask? Some people are born with diseases that can be transmitted through sexual contact. A few are Hepatitis B, Herpes and HIV. Though this form is very uncommon, it’s more the reason to always consider using protection when it comes down to “doing the do”.

Hepatitis B can be contracted without sex and spread through it 50 to 100 times more likely than HIV. Because HBV has been found in vaginal secretions, saliva, and semen, this explains it all. Herpes mostly through kissing friends or family can spread infections. And HIV? The same as Hepatitis B.
