Despite notable moments at this year’s 2018 MTV Video Music Awards, statistics do not look so well for the award show.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, this year’s VMAs drew the fewest viewers in the show’s history coupled with the worst ratings. When compared to other year’s, this year’s show only got 4.87 million viewers and 2.2 rating among young adults aged 18-49. When compared to last year, the 2017 VMAs drew 5.36 million viewers and a 2.6 rating. If you do the math, that equates to a rating drop from 2.2 to 1.2 for both teens and young adults ranging from 18-34.
So regardless of stand out performances from Ariana Grande, Post Malone, Logic and more, the VMAs is definitely on the decline.
