Tennessee Titans Derrick Henry Suffers Season-Ending Foot Injury

According to ESPN, Derrick Henry, the running back for the Tennessee Titans, will undergo surgery on his right foot on Tuesday morning. The NFL rushing leader will not have a timetable return based upon Titans head coach Mike Vrable.

Henry suffered a toe injury during the Indianapolis Colts game, this past Sunday. He received tests Monday checking the severity of the injury after he finished the overtime win against the Colts, 34-31. The tests confirmed this was a Jones fracture and he is predicted to miss the remainder of the 2021-22 season.

Vrabel has been around Henry long enough to understand that he will do everything in his power to help the team be successful while focusing on his own recovery. The 6-2 Titans look to take on the Los Angeles Rams who have just received Von Miller in a trade.

Vrabel mentioned that whenever the time comes, Derrick will join our team. We recognize its significance to him and our team. Unfortunately, we’ll have to proceed without him for now and focus on the future. Vrabel remains hopeful that Derrick will make a comeback, as he is someone who has the potential to do so.

    Tennessee Titans Will Miss Henry

The two-time NFL rushing champ walked off to the bench early in Colt’s game. Midway through the first quarter, he was shown with his shoe off and talking to trainers before he returned back to the game. He recorded 28 carriers for 68 yards while playing 54 of the 73 offensive snaps. This was by far his lowest of the season. However, it is clear that he was playing with a season-ending injury, which makes those numbers seem impressive.

Henry is the NFL’s leader in touchdowns with ten and has accumulated 947 yards in only eight games. The 2020 NFL MVP for offense opted out of interviews with reporters following the game. It can be argued that he is a major factor in the Titans’ top position in the AFC as the number one seed.

Henry became the eighth person in NFL history to run for at least 2,000 yards. Last season, he rushed for 2,027 yards while carrying the ball 378 times.

    Titans Contingency Plan

The Titans currently have running back Jeremy McNichols and Dontrell Hillard on the roster. They are currently looking at veteran future Hall of Fame running back Adrian Peterson. The 36-year-old, who is fifth’s in the league career rushing list plans to meet with the Titans and help fill the void left by Henry’s injury.
