Grand Jury Decides To Indict All Three men involved in Ahmaud Arbery’s death.
All three suspects accused of killing 25-year-old Ahmaud Abrery have been indicted by a Grand Jury. Greg McMichael, Travis McMichael, and William R Bryan will all face charges for their part in Arbery’s murder.
The charges range from malice and felony murder to false imprisonment for the men charged with murdering Ahmaud Arbery. The news of a black man jogging being killed by white men swept the nation. Now a grand jury has made the first move towards “justice”.
“This is another step forward in seeking justice for Ahmaud”. Those are the words of Cobb County District Attorney Joyette Holmes. This is what she told reporters as she made the announcement of the nine charges each man will face.
The murder happened on Feb 23 in Georgia where Greg McMichael and his son Trevis say they saw a man running.
Due to the fact, the neighborhood was experiencing some breaking they thought he was a burglar. The men saw they armed themselves and began pursuing the man until the cornered him.
A confrontation ensued and that is when Ahmaud Arbery got shot, all of the action being caught on camera by Mr. Bryan. Initially, authorities didn’t file any charges because they felt the McMichael acted in self-defense. However, after the video of the incident began swirling around in April things had to change.
The details around Ahmaud Arbery’s case are yet another example of the extremes society feels it has to go to when dealing with people of color. Even if Arbery was a burglar, citizens should not be able to shoot “suspected” criminals. The fact that cops can do that is the reason the country is still experiencing BLM Protest and riots.
Please note that before the city officials in Georgia began getting hit from the national media. Someone with authority thought what transpired Feb 23 was legal and justifiable.
