STEAM Deck, PC Gaming Now Portable Rivals Switch
PC Gaming giant has now tackled the portable realm of gaming. But, will their STEAM deck deliver the goods and render the Nintendo Switch obsolete? Let’s take a closer look at what the gaming “system” will offer via STEAM’s official site.
Hardware and Software
STEAM partnered with AMD to create Steam Deck’s custom APU, optimized for handheld gaming. The STEAM Deck is a Zen 2 + RDNA 2 powerhouse, delivering more than enough performance to run the latest AAA games effectively. Another benefit, is your gaming library. Once you’ve logged into account, your entire Steam Library shows up, just like any other PC. If you have an account, you can access those games remotely without access to the internet to stream. Simply, download the content when near internet and then you are ready to play.

The size is camparible to the new Switch OLED release and the design is reminiscient of the Playstation Vita. Yet, build for extended play, the Deck comes with full-size controls and sculpted to comfortably fit a wide range of hand sizes. There is a dock for sale but only available for purchase separately. The dock allows the player to connect to external displays, wired networking, USB peripherals, and power. Don’t want to use a dock? Instead, players can use a powered USB-C hub.
