San Antonio Spurs Joshua Primo Allegedly Exposes Himself

The San Antonio Spurs have released their PG Joshua Primo, the former No. 12 overall pick in the 2021 NBA draft, as reported by Adrian Wojnarowski for ESPN. The rapid release stemmed from the countless alleged instances of Primo exposing himself to women within the facility, as well as, outside the facility. While the player is only 19 years old, he may have made some decisions that may affect his future forever.

Unfortunately for the Spurs, Primo’s contract was picked up for a $4.3 million 2023-24 option. Ultimately, displaying the talent level of Primo and most importantly their trust for the young player. He was being geared to possibly be a part of the future of the franchise, however, these allegations have disrupted his trajectory.

Is the Joshua Primo Case Similar to Deshaun Watson’s Case?

Similarly, attorney Tony Buzbee will be representing several women who claim they were unwilling to be exposed by Primo. Buzbee represented several of the women throughout Cleveland Browns QB Deshaun Watson’s case.

While Primo was waived his talents still speak for themselves and any teams are interested. However, until more details reveal themselves many teams are skeptical of signing him. In today’s league, talent does not overweigh actions. Many young players believe that their actions may not lead to any huge consequences. Yet, time and time again this idealogy proves to be false.

The San Antonio Spurs and Primo Release Statements

Primo acknowledges the news is disturbing and alarming. However, he assures he’s seeking help and taking the correct steps to assure this doesn’t happen again. Primo blames his mental health for his alleged actions.

“I know you’re all surprised by today’s news,” said Primo in the statement. “I’m getting help for past trauma and will focus on my mental health treatment. I hope to talk about this in the future to help others who’ve been through something similar. Please respect my privacy for now.”

Prior to his release, he played 54 career games with the spurs, including 16 starts as a rookie. Throughout these first four games, he was averaging seven points off the bench for the Spurs.

“We hope this decision benefits the organization and Joshua in the end,” said Spurs CEO R.C. Buford in a statement.
