Over the last several years, we’ve seen some costly divorces. Now Robert De Niro will possibly be added to the list, and it could cost half his fortune.
At the moment Robert De Niro is fighting to hold on to millions. He and his wife Grace Hightower, are currently in a court situation that’s starting to get pretty ugly. Apparently, Grace legal counsel believes that the actor is worth half a billion. The hearing recently took place in Manhattan Supreme Court.
Robert De Niro Splitting From Wife
Above all, the two did elect to sign off on a prenup back in 2004. However, the two are disputing the language of the agreement. De Niro‘s counsel believes that the terms would result in a $6 million dollar apartment, $500K in cash, and $1 million each year and a half for the value of their marital residence. Meanwhile, Hightower is looking to get a percentage of his 38 movies along with several business ventures since 2004.
Furthermore, Hightower and her legal counsel believe that she is entitled to 50% of the actor’s wealth.
“Mr. De Niro has made $300 million since 2004 via 35 businesses, and 38 movies,” Hightower’s lawyer, Allan Mantel, told the judge, reports The Daily News.
“His total income is more than $500 million. He gets it all,” he said in angry disbelief, prompting Justice Matthew Cooper to interject some humor into the tense proceeding.
“Now his income will fall, now that special counsel Robert Mueller is out of the picture on ‘Saturday Night Live,’” the judge quipped.
In conclusion, do you feel that Robert De Nero splitting half a billion with his wife is fair? Should he try to work it out with his wife? Leave your comments below, and stay tuned to Hypefresh.co.
