New York’s Jason Innocent Announces Hip-Hop Animation Film ‘Punch Buggy’ Is on the Way

New York-based conceptual artist Jason Innocent announces the release of his Hip-Hop animation film Punch Buggy, also known as Ye with a Bullet.

The film centers around a debate between two friends, Anton and Nills, regarding what Kanye West’s best album is.

The short has a runtime of over two minutes and plays out like a naturalistic slice-of-life film in the lives of two friends. Innocent commented on the film’s overall feel, stating, “Punch Buggy is not a traditional animation. It looks like one, feels like one, and sounds like one. That’s the fun of it. It is very much like an everyday dialogue.”

When asked what inspired him to create this piece, Innocent divulged.

“My friend and I used to have conversations about Kanye West and other artists,” he says. “However, none of our discussions escalated to the point where we would harm each other. As an artist, I have to find a way to put that into the work that I’m doing. It came to me effortlessly.”
