    R. Kelly Verdict: 30 Years For Sex Trafficking And Racketeering

    The verdict for R. Kelly is out, everyone. The R&B artist will be sentenced to 30 years in prison for charges of sex trafficking and racketeering, as reported by Independent. The details of this R. Kelly news are not shocking to most. In fact, prosecutors called for the troubled singer to serve at least 25 years to “protect the public”. Robert Kelly is one of R&B’s most successful artists, making this a tragedy for his fans. Last September, Kelly was convicted of nine counts, one including racketeering. Three women would testify against R. Kelly. Gloria Allred, an attorney for the three women said, “No one can undo the harm that has been done to these victims.”

    The subject of singer R. Kelly and his history of abuse turned into public outrage from a series of women who claim to be victims. In 2019, Netflix aired a documentary exposing Kelly’s dirty laundry, featuring a number of his victims. The controversy sparked Gayle King to interview Kelly, where he would ultimately make a mockery of himself. The explosive, exclusive interview on CBS This Morning would rack millions of views. The co-host asked Kelly intimidating questions relating to his convictions.

    “I don’t even know how to hog tie,” Kelly emotionally said.

    He stated this after allegations of a victim stating that he hog tied her on the Netflix series.

    Mixed Feeling About R. Kelly and his Sentencing

    According to New York Post, victims are having mixed feelings about the length of R. Kelly’s sentence. One of the victims would state that the sentencing is “not enough” while another victim says she’s “overwhelmed”. She never imagined a justice system that would actually pull through for her. Jovante Cunningham, a victim meeting him at 14 said, “his abuse spans for 30 years, and 30 years is what he got.”
