When times get hard for Prince Harry he likes to pack it all up up and go to Africa.
For years, Africa has been Prince Harry’s safe haven. His favorite place of all time, when visiting the motherland, is Botswana. His roots there stretch back to when his mother suffered a fatal car accident.
Right now, Harry and his family are in Africa for a royal tour. It was on one of their first stops that Harry shared his deep connection with the land.
“Fifteen years I’ve been coming here, it’s a sense of escapism—a real sense of purpose….I have some of my closest friends here over the years. I came here in 1997 or 1998 straight after my mum died, so it was a nice place to get away from it all.”
At the age of 35-years-old, Prince Harry has been to Botswana more than just a few times. He’s dedicated his life to finishing his mother’s work, through bringing awareness to the country– specifically with a series of conservation projects.
During her time alive, Princess Diana had a strong connection with Africa– possibly why Harry shares the same feelings as well.
The two traveling through Africa, along with their son Archie, for a number of charitable acts and to promote the concerns of climate change.
“There’s an emergency… it’s a race against time and one which we are losing. Everyone knows it. There’s no excuse for not knowing that and the most troubling part of that is that I don’t believe that there’s anybody in this world that can deny science—undeniable science and facts—science and facts that have been around for the last 30, maybe 40, years and it’s only getting stronger and stronger.
