Portland Trail Blazers Dame Lillard Ask Ben Simmons To Join Him

Portland Trail Blazers Damian Lillard requests for Ben Simmons to come to play with him in Portland. These rumors should excite many Portland Trail Blazer fans just because they simply don’t have much to look forward to. Many know and understand that Philadelphia 76ers guard Ben Simmons is having trouble with management within the organization. Therefore, this seems like an ideal situation for Simmons. Simmons has yet to suit up any games this year because of contractual obligations and frustration; with Lillard, he’d be a better situation for his future.

Unfortunately, Blazers fans have given C.J. McCollum and Dame Lillard several years to try and make a push for the title. The result of the duo is one Western Conference Championship appearance. Many Trail Blazers fans while they respect the duo, they understand its not much promise within the duo and they’ll have a better opportunity with Simmons at going deeper in the playoffs.

The Blazers have recently fired the general manager and head of basketball operations this past Friday, per sources. This became relevant because immediately many questioned Lillard’s future with the franchise. He’s expressed his frustration this off-season with the Balzers management and lack of supporting players around him.

Trail Blazers contractual issues with star player Dame Lillard

According to Adrian Wojnarowski, Lillard wants to sign a two-year extension worth $107 million with the Portland Trail Blazers. This would keep him there until 2026-27 season, however, the aging star is nearing his mid-thirties. The problem lies with the multiple general managers. They have no interest in paying the future Hall of Famer big money nearing his mid-30s.

According to Woj, there are concerns about Portland extending Lillard’s contract beyond his current earnings. The potential payments in the later years of the contract are seen as risky. Among the candidates for Portland’s GM position, there is little enthusiasm for granting Lillard a large extension through the 2026-27 season. In fact, some executives have expressed a preference for the Blazers to consider moving Lillard with the approval of the ownership. Lillard responded to Woj’s report by expressing his lack of surprise. A fan tried to provoke him by posting a picture of Trump and Pence shaking hands. Lillard’s response was simply, “Can’t say I’m surprised.”
