The Pittsburgh Steelers defense is ranked 12th best in the league, per PFF. The Steelers have a fairly young, yet, talented secondary. This secondary has reached great heights; however, they have suffered losses within the secondary. The Steelers’ most recent losses of Steven Nelson and Mike Hilton will force individuals to step up.
Players To Look Out For
A player to be on the lookout for the 2021 season is, Cameron Sutton. The Steelers have signed him to a two-year, $9M deal, per PFF. Sutton has played in the league four years and since the 2019 season, he’s graded 73.5, which is 23rd best overall. He’s likely to start on the other side of Joe Haden.

Another player to look out for, Minkah Fitzpatrick. He is becoming a premier all-star and has been a pillar on this Steelers defense. Since taking over safety in 2019, no defense has allowed fewer completions on passes 20-plus yards downfield than Pittsburgh (32) over that we stretch.
Besides, league veteran Joe Haden, this secondary is one of the youngest in the league. Moreover, this secondary is led by Fitzpatrick, and with several seasons under his belt and now playoff experience he may be able to guide this young group to the standard that the league must respect.

Pittsburgh Steelers’ Motivation For The 2021 Season
In 2020, the Steeler’s defense ranked third overall. Pittsburgh racked in 27 defensive takeaways, only behind the Miami Dolphins 29 takeaways, per Pro football reference.
Yet, PFF has ranked the Steelers’ secondary 12th overall. It seems this can fuel the young secondary and defense as a whole. The Steeler secondary must be as explosive or just as productive as they were the following year. The defensive rush of the Steelers is respected amongst the league. If they can continue to get pressure on opposing quarterbacks, this will make the secondary job much easier.
Ultimately, they can prove critics wrong. This only adds an additional chip on their shoulders.
