Rob Gronkowski Traded to Tampa Bay
ESPN reports that the Patriots have agreed to a trade that would send Rob Gronkowski to the Buccaneers. In return for Gronkowski, the Patriots are receiving a fourth-round pick in tomorrow’s draft. Along with receiving Gronk in the deal, the Bucs will be getting a seventh-round pick as well.
I feel like this trade was a good thing for both teams. Gronk wasn’t going to play in New England so why not trade him. Whereas Tampa Bay was able to add to a great piece to their already talented offense.
Gronk’s Ready to Team Back-Up with Tom Brady
Rob Gronkowski retired prior to the most recent NFL season. Even with a year off, he is sure to be one of the best TEs in the league next season. It was tough seeing Gronk and Brady kill it together for years in New England, mainly due to their fans, but it will definitely be fun to see the duo playing together again.
Gronk and Brady were able to develop a fantastic chemistry over the course of playing together for nine seasons. During Gronkowski’s time in New England, the Patriots were able to win three Super Bowls.
It should be pretty cool to see these two playing for a new team though. The Bucs have been able to put together a high power offense with the additions of Brady and Gronk so they should be able to do pretty well next season.
It was a bit surprising when Gronk retired after only nine seasons, but he had already accomplished a fair amount so it wasn’t the craziest decision. That retirement was short-lived though. I honestly expected both Brady and Gronk to end their careers with the Pats, but that seems to be wrong.
What do you guys think about the fact that New England traded Gronkowski to the Bucs?
Are you surprised to see Gronk come out of retirement? Are you looking forward to seeing him play alongside Tom Brady again? And how do you expect the Buccaneers and Gronk to perform this upcoming season?
