Parkland Shooting Commission Agrees Teachers Should Be Armed

The devastating tragedy that occurred at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida will always stay with us.

The rampage left 17 people dead, dozens injured, and many emotionally broken. Now the panel studying the shooting thinks teacher need to carry firearms to prevent further violence. This news comes days after Loius C.K. mocked the Parkland survivors.

In a 400+ page report, the Commission goes over the Parkland shooting and how to stop future attacks. Among the safety measures is the Guardian Program, where staff can volunteer to carry guns:

School districts and charter schools should permit…the Guardian Program…to allow personnel—who volunteer, are properly selected, thoroughly screened and extensively trained—to carry concealed firearms.

According to The Guardian, some voiced their opinions to the approval of the idea. Juliana Simone Carrasco, a high school student says:

“I don’t want my teachers to be armed, I want my elected leaders to pass policies to keep guns out of the hands of people with dangerous intentions to begin with.”
