On April 11, a memorial service for the late-rapper Nipsey Hussle took place at the Staples Center, in Los Angeles.
This was the second time that a memorial service has been at that specific venue, which seats 21,000 people. The first person to have their home going service at the Staples Center was Michael Jackson.
Much like MJ’s funeral, every seat in the house was filled— resulting in a grand turnout. There was an obvious presence of admiration and love in the building, as thousands of people poured in to pay their last respects to a great man. In that crowd were people like Snoop Dogg, YG, Jhene Aiko, and Stevie Wonder each delivering a heartfelt speech about their fondest memories of their friend.
Perhaps the only difference was the number of fatalities following the service. As you know, no one died after MJ’s funeral. However, reports say that at least one person lost their life, and three others hurt on Thursday. The incident happened during the funeral procession. Authorities are saying that it was a drive-by shooting.
Los Angeles Police Chief, Michel Moore, states that the victims were between the ages of 30-50 years old. There were three males and one female.
At the moment, the cause of the shooting has not been specified.
