New York native DUVV reminds me of driving on a frigid night surrounded by sparkling stars, landscapes, and strobe lights.
New York-based Trinidadian-American recording artist DUVV released her debut EP ACID. Inspired by her time soul-searching in Seoul, South Korea, she serves a modern, multicultural and ethereal listening experience. ACID premiered exclusively yesterday on V Magazine who called the EP “hypnotic” and praised DUVV as a “sorceress of sound.”In ACID, she explores the elements of Seoul’s club scene that inspired her. Written and almost entirely produced by her, ACID unveils an exciting and thought-provoking electronic soundscape.
On the EP, DUVV sings in powerful whispers layered cleverly over catchy, echoing synth pop tracks. Her unique vocal timbre carries an air of mystery and enchantment. She showcases her versatility throughout ACID borrowing from a variety of genres including R&B, Soul, Pop, and Electronic. DUVV’s electronic eclectic sound is a stand-out showcase of the innovation and inspiration of the South Korean music scene.
