Originally from Sedona, AZ, hip-hop herbalist Ben Steezy sets the bar for self-made emcees who rap, write, produce, and manage their own enterprises. Give him any topic and he’ll spit a raw freestyle guaranteed to get you thinking on a higher elevation. Although the music has always been in Ben, Steezy made his appearance on the scene in 2014 when he formed his indie production co., Ben Steezy Entertainment.
His debut EP “The Release Tape” gained a noble amount of positive attention from the southwest’s underground hip-hop movement. That struck a stream of success as he began to collab with artists and investors who recognized his sound and potential. Building off this momentum, Steezy co-founded Gone Green Records, which gained notoriety after the drop of his award-winning single “MTW”. Motivated by Ben’s livelihood and friendship, fellow artists went all in with BenJSteez on a mixtape that would send them on a 22 city tour across the US and Mexico.
Despite the label being left on an indefinite hiatus, many of the artists involved with GGR are contributors to Ben Steezy’s upcoming solo project under his original imprint. These days you can catch Mr. Steez mixing up tonic blends at Krizzurp & Co (his supplement company) or flippin’ fresh concepts into new wave herbal eargasms for his 2020 release; “Cool Kids, “Human by Design.”
