Netflix is rising their subscription prices again!
Starting today, Netflix has decided to charge their 58 million subscribers more money to stream their services. It will be the highest increase the streaming service has ever inflicted since they first launched the company 12 years ago.
The last time Netflix increased subscription fees was in October 2017. According to BuzzFeed, Netflix will notify subscribers at least 30 days before the changes are reflected in their bill. However, for new subscribers, the changes will be immediate.
When asked about the new policy, a spokesperson for the company had this to say:
“We change pricing from time to time as we continue investing in great entertainment and improving the overall Netflix experience for the benefit of our members.”
The changes come as Disney plans to remove all their content from the streaming service. Sometime this year, Disney plans on introducing their own streaming platform to rival existing companies.
Netflix hopes that with the increased prices, they’ll be able to afford new projects and keep existing content. The only people who won’t be targeted will be those subscribers living in Mexico and Brazil.
Luckily for some people, they don’t even pay for Netflix…they just borrow other people’s passwords.
