“Anyone found this necklace at the VMAs backstage or know anything about it there’s a reward it’s the shorter one… thanks,” the “Work It” hitmaker, 48, wrote in all caps, adding a prayer-hands emoji for good measure.
The misplaced bauble seems to feature a string of emerald-cut diamonds framed by rectangular halos of pavé stones and set in yellow gold.
It is not clear why the diamond neckless became lost. But, Missy Elliott was seen not wearing it during the telecast or in the press room afterward.
Despite Missy losing her neckless, The MTV Video Music Awards belonged to Missy Elliott on Monday night!
The rapper performed a truly epic set before accepting the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award.
“I promised I wouldn’t cry because I cry every award [show], but the Video Vanguard Award means so much to me,” she said. “I have worked diligently for over two decades. [She] never thought I’d be standing up here . . . it don’t go unnoticed, the support and love you’ve shown me over the years.”
“Lastly, I want to dedicate this award to the dance communities all around the world. When y’all get on the stage with these artists, y’all are not just props,” she told the dancers around her, ushering them to the front of the stage. “Y’all are the icing on the cake, y’all are the beat to the heart. I dedicate this to every dance community out there.”
She also made sure to shout out all the dancers who have helped her music videos reach icon status over the years.
One to pinpoint is Alyson Stone! The 26-year-old made a surprise appearance during Missy’s Vanguard Award performance.
